Friday, June 25 – Four Weeks In

It’s Day 28. I’ve been working toward earning $100,000 per month for four weeks. Am I making progress? I think so, but (as usual) things need to accelerate.

I decided to shut EVERYTHING down – my scriptwriting, my marketing work – and focus my professional energies on my SixPackDaddy project. I pulled all the books and notes that I have and put them on the table. It’s time to get this thing written.

I’m down to 191 pounds. Gotta keep going. Time to make an actual plan and ramp up my workouts. Time to improve my intensity. Time to treat getting a six pack as if it’s my job.

Today, I will:

  1. Make my workout plan from now ‘til Alaska
  2. Get under the hood of my eating plan and exercise plan
  3. Finish those Beer Beach Photoshops

The Happytalk Is Back

Thursday, June 24, 2010 – Day 27

It’s Day 27 – 373 days to go. And, the Happytalk is back.

Supposedly, the film will be funded Monday. This may happen. That would be tremendous. But what should I be doing as a detached magic maker? Especially considering the other bit of news I heard – which is that Susie is taking a pay cut.

Since we cannot sustain this level of spending at our current income levels, the news of the pay cut means we must change our ways. The pay cut is more of a certainty than the movie funding. So… I need to make money.

With this in mind, I’m going to throw all my weight behind getting SixPackDaddy off the ground. Two fronts to this battle.

1 – Losing weight. Working out and eating right are now my job. I need to sweat first thing in the morning and then (new twist) get that second workout in sometime in the afternoon.

2 – I need to start putting the actual program into place. I have to actually write the thing. Even though I’m still flabby, I can write it, start executing it.

Before I go to Alaska, I need to focus on just a couple things – and not a long list.

  1. Getting my stories written ahead for my day job.
  2. Making sure Beer Beach has everything it needs to continue rolling forward.
  3. Writing SixPackDaddy and getting down to 185 pounds.

Day 25

Yesterday, I set out to do the following:

  1. Establish my weekly calendar system
  2. Do 1,000 calories’ worth of exercise
  3. Write 5 pages of “Ass Kickers”
  4. Write an e-mail blast to get an intern

I did a little more than half. I got the calendar system in place, wrote an e-mail blast and went for a walk – about 300 calories’ worth of exercise.

Went for a walk this morning and thought about having a definite end in mind. What, exactly, am I striving for? What are my definite ends? What is my definiteness of purpose?

The properties that need to be completed include:

  1. A screenplay of “Ass Kickers” – Finished July 8, 2010
  2. Six Pack Daddy program – Launched and live August 31, 2010
  3. Treatment for the 909 project – Finished July 8, 2010
  4. Weigh 185 – July 8, 2010
  5. launched – July 8, 2010
  6. launched – July 31, 2010

These are the only properties and goals that I am currently committed to achieving.

All six will create streams of income. They must get done.

Today, I will:

  1. Write 5 pages of “Ass Kickers”
  2. Finish scanning the book of quotes
  3. Watch one hour of “Frezno Smooth”
  4. Blast for the intern

Big Week

Monday, June 21, 2010 – Day 24

I’m three weeks into this thing. What do I have to show for it? Plenty… but I need a more coherent plan.

My weekly calendar needs to be a more integral part of my life. “Win the Day” is nice. “Win the Week” is the next step.

Today I Will:

  1. Establish my weekly calendar system
  2. Do 1,000 calories’ worth of exercise
  3. Write 5 pages of “Ass Kickers”
  4. Write an e-mail blast to get an intern

Father’s Day

Sunday, June 20, 2010 – Day 23

It’s Father’s Day. 377 days to go. Pretty much took the day off yesterday. Will dial the action back today also to celebrate with my family and Anne.

In my phone conversation with Janie, the most important thing we talked about was actually somewhat spiritual. I need to have faith. There needs to be zero doubt that what I’m doing is awesome and will make a ton of money.

  1. Beer Beach is a revolutionary, hilarious, priceless fiction property.
  2. When the New Mexico and the Georgia money comes in, I will be poised to take advantage of both with two great feature film properties.
  3. I will be making a huge, lucrative splash with, selling an awesome and effective fitness program – and setting me up as an online ShamWow guy.
  4. There is also money to be made writing It will be the most provocative, cool, addictive Packers blog on the planet.

These things are awesome because I am awesome. I have worked very hard – and continue to work very hard – to be awesome.

377 days to go. The question, now that my head is right, is what can I do now?

Three Weeks Down

Friday, June 18, 2010 – Day 21

It’s Friday, which means another week has passed in my quest to earn $100,000 per month by next July. As I’ve said for many years, “The weeks slide by.” Now, at least, I’ve taken some control of this. The weeks are sliding by, but I’m keeping an eye on them and doing my best to maximize them.

I am aiming to have the full SixPackDaddy program written and planned by the time I leave for Alaska. That is now less than three weeks away. This morning, I must lay out the blueprint for this program. I need to know WHAT I am writing. WHAT I will be offering.

I am eating less. Drinking less. Because of this, I should need to sleep less. It’s important that I’m hyper-aware of what needs to be done. When I have time, as I seemed to have late last night, I should be able to fire up the computer and knock out SOMETHING.

Yesterday, I logged 600 calories of exercise.

Today, I will:

  1. Enter all my SixPackDaddy notes into my blog
  2. Create a blueprint for the SixPackDaddy program
  3. Write five pages of “Ass Kickers”

Don’t Blink. Don’t Pause.

Thursday, June 17, 2010 – Day 20

My last entry was Saturday, June 12. I blinked. I paused. And, whooosh… Five days went screaming by.

The reason I am writing this blog is sort of meditative. It forces me to, every day, consider the challenge at hand. If I blink. If I pause. If I take a day off, I may just miss five full fucking days.

Now, the last five days haven’t been worthless. I moved forward on Beer Beach with Kurt, chopped vegetables, took notes, and moved my computer systems forward toward full functionality. But, most of this effort was unfocused.

The other problem is that I’m stuck at 200 pounds. Part of my 100K effort – a BIG part – is my For me to do this, I need to… well… have a six-pack. That isn’t happening. It needs to.

And, because I’ve got about $700 in wagers on the line in the near term, it needs to happen before July 8. That is exactly three weeks away. In other words, I must lose 15 pounds in three weeks.

Consider even the greater challenge…

I need to lose these 15 pounds with Anne coming to town one weekend, then Kurt and Kara coming to town the next weekend, then us visiting Kurt and Kara the following weekend.

Beer, I must admit, has become the biggest obstacle in this quest. If I’m going to pull off this miracle – which I fully intend to do – then I’ve gotta cut back on the beer in a big way. Actually, pretty much eliminate it. I just can’t afford to drink it.

I also must increase the intensity and frequency of my workouts. I’ve been going for walks. That’s nice. In the afternoons, I also need to do something that pushes my limits. Maybe a P90X cardio deal. Maybe my own workout. Something to blast fat. I’ll do the math a little later, but I’m thinking of setting a benchmark of 1,000 calories burned in exercise per day. That’s a commitment I need to make – and follow through.

Okay, back at it. Today, I will:

  1. Do 1,000 calories worth of exercise
  2. Enter all my food and notes into the SixPackDaddy blog
  3. Install the Quicktime update necessary to read the Beer Beach footage

I’m back in business. Just keep doing the right things. With focus. Every day.
